Congratulations, to Tish Catalano, Sarah Riley and Juliana Dowling for being recognized for their years of effort and hard work at Immaculate Heart of Mary and their participation in the CYO program. We look forward to your special day on Sunday, April 21st at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, as we celebrate your accomplishments in the Parishes and Schools of our Archdiocese. CYO STATE CHAMPIONS 2024

CYO STATE CHAMPIONS!!! Very hard-fought win last night against a tough and loud East Orange St Joseph’s team! Nate left it all out on the court! All 3 of my boys have played at IHM for the past 12 years and this was our LAST IHM game ever! Sad to see it end but what a way to end it! Big thanks to John McNulty for coaching these boys with all his heart, Coach Tish, and Trish McNulty for all the stats and Father Mike for supporting! Photo credits Sharon Filler.
CYO Basketball is Back!

Final registration for youth basketball players grades 3-8 (both boys and girls) will be on Tuesday October 31st. Registration forms are available for at the Nazareth Center. Or you can download & print the registration form by clicking on the flyer image or button.

IHM Pee-Wee basketball is a fun / instructional league, with games played on Friday evenings. There are no practices, and teams are coached by either a parent or high school student. The job of the coach is to substitute players and help instruct players during the game. The league has officials and is semi-competitive. This year we will have an 8 week regular season, with all teams making the playoffs. Opening Friday will be September 29th.
(This will also be my last season volunteering after 30 years at IHM. I will be actively seeking a replacement in hopes of keeping this league available in the future.)
1st & 2nd grade Boy’s will play on a 9 foot basket.
2nd, 3rd & 4th grade Girl’s will play on a 9 foot basket.
3rd & 4th grade Boy’s will play on a 10 foot basket.
Game will be every 50 minutes with first games starting at 5:10pm.
Playoffs are scheduled to be played on December 1st.
Finals are tentatively scheduled to be played December 8th.
The cost of these divisions will be $150 per player. All divisions will play two 18 minute halves with running clock. The clock will stop the last minute of each half and on time outs. Playing time is fair but not equal. All players will receive a team jersey on opening night. All players will be contacted by their coach no later than September 22nd. If you do not hear from your coach by this time, please contact me at decat61@yahoo.com.
Please clean up all personal garbage before exiting. We ask that your children do not play in the lobby, as the Office is located there. REQUESTS are no longer accepted! (Too many requests to handle fairly) If you have an emergency situation please email me prior to registering. Registration forms are attached and will also be available outside the Nazareth Center lobby starting August 7th.
Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis and must be received no later than September 16th.
All forms need to be mailed to the address on the registration form. DO NOT leave the registration form at the Nazareth Center Office.

For a very successful 2022-23 season. IHM had 7 teams this season and four of them made it all the way to the Union County Championships held at Union Catholic High School. Of those four teams we had 2 that won the championship in their division and stayed undefeated in Union County the entire season and the other 2 teams came in second place. Thanks to all coaches who put in the time and effort!!!!

Last chance to sign up your little basketball star to play on the IHM Pee-Wee Basketball league! Opening Thursday will be September 29th. (1st & 2nd grade girls) Opening Friday will be September 30th. There will be no games Thanksgiving weekend and Finals are scheduled to be played December 9th.

ARCHDIOCEAN AWARD WINNERS

This past Sunday Thomas Riley and Graydon Trujillo, IHM parishioners and CYO Basketball players, were awarded the Archdiocesan Sportsmanship award for their service and activity on and off the court. Joe Riley, IHM Parishioner and Basketball Coach, was awarded the Archdiocesan Adult Discipleship Award for his commitment to our basketball program and our parish. Congratulations Thomas, Graydon and Joe, and thank you for your leadership and commitment to our parish family.
2021-2022 IHM BASKETBALL SEASON FINALE

The 2021-22 Union County CYO Basketball season is officially over and in the books. IHM had 3 teams out of 6 make it to the final game of the playoffs for Union County and had over 70 players between the 4th and 8th grade Boys and Girls teams.
We still faced some bumps in the road with Covid but it was nice to see the kids running up and down the court with some sense of normalcy. The list of coaches & volunteers to thank is way too long but without parishioners volunteering their time the season would never have been able to happen so thank you!
