What is Alpha?

We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore faith, ask questions and share their point of view. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

Alpha is run all around the globe and everyone is welcome. It runs online, in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it! No two Alphas look the same, but they generally have three key things in common: hospitality, a talk and good conversation.

There is no cost to join the Alpha program. Please complete the form below to register. You will need a computer or smart device with a working internet connection to fully enjoy this program. If you need help signing up, you can call the parish office Monday - Friday during business hours at 908-889-2100.

The History of Alpha

Alpha began at a church called Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) in London in 1977, it was taken by Nicky Gumbel in 1990 and repositioned as a course for those outside the congregation. The number of people attending Alpha at HTB grew quickly into the hundreds and attracted the attention of other churches across denominations seeking to find an effective tool for evangelism.

Now, all over the world, millions of people have tried Alpha and it has been translated into 112 different languages. The Alpha Talks have been repackaged for today’s audience in the Alpha Film Series and the Alpha Youth Series – created to reach a younger generation with the Gospel. Even as times have changed, the Alpha course has continued to be used by the church as an effective tool to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

You are invited!

Alpha is a place to connect with other people who are open to exploring life, faith, and meaning. Each session includes a time to connect with others (often over a free meal), hear a short talk on an element of the Christian faith, and then a chance for each person to share their own questions with the group. We’d love to hear your perspective!

How much does The Alpha program cost?

Alpha sessions are completely free and there is no commitment to attend additional meetings. 9 out of 10 times, folks usually come back! Please sign up above and find out for yourself.
